Fred A. Toomer Elementary (FATE) is a traditional public school with 360 students in grades K-5, and is open to all students who live in the Atlanta neighborhoods of Edgewood, Kirkwood, and East Lake.
A majority of students come from low-income families, though families from a broad socioeconomic spectrum make up the school community, and FATE is distinctively inclusive of the diversity of families it serves.
Led by Principal Ashely Adamo, a deeply invested and transformational educator, FATE fosters social emotional learning in an environment that values a multi-cultural perspective. This is reflected both in the school’s inclusive culture as well as its progress towards IB certification.
Features that make FATE a unique and welcoming community include passionate and involved parents, strong community partnerships, and a campus retrofitted to accommodate students with a range of physical differences.
